On Sunday, 28 September 2025, the VH Mabaso Memorial Congregation of the Uniting Presbyterian Church in Southern Africa (UPCSA) held a vibrant and spirit-filled event in commemoration of Heritage Day. The celebration was marked by a Holy Communion Service, which brought together members of the congregation in unity, faith, and cultural pride.
The service began at 09h00 and was a heartfelt occasion where worship, thanksgiving, and remembrance were at the core. The congregation reflected on their shared heritage as people of faith while embracing the diverse cultural traditions that define their community.
One of the highlights of the day was the dress code of traditional attire. Members attended the service dressed in beautiful and colourful cultural garments, showcasing the rich diversity of South Africa’s heritage. This added vibrancy and authenticity to the celebration, reminding all in attendance of the importance of preserving cultural identity while walking in faith.
The theme of the event, “Celebrating Our Culture,” was evident in every aspect of the service. From the prayers and hymns to the fellowship afterwards, the congregation demonstrated a strong sense of unity and belonging.
The VH Mabaso Memorial Congregation once again proved its commitment not only to spiritual growth but also to honouring traditions that strengthen community bonds. The Heritage Day Holy Communion Service was a meaningful reminder that faith and culture can walk hand in hand, enriching the lives of individuals and the collective church family.
